Jeremy McCormick
Dr. Jeremy McCormick is a cybersecurity educator, academic leader, and industry practitioner with extensive experience in program development, workforce partnerships, and student-centered teaching. He serves as Program Director and Professor of Computer Information Systems at McLennan Community College, where he leads curriculum modernization, strategic planning, faculty collaboration, and cybersecurity program expansion while maintaining an active teaching load. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Computer Science Department at Baylor University, where he develops and teaches advanced cybersecurity courses.
Dr. McCormick brings a unique blend of academic and industry experience to his work. He provides cybersecurity consulting services focused on risk reduction, policy development, workforce training, and practical strategies to strengthen organizational security posture. His career in IT consulting, network operations, and technical services further informs his applied, real-world approach to both teaching and program leadership.
His scholarly and professional interests center on cybersecurity workforce development, applied security education, and threat mitigation. His doctoral research examined the effectiveness of phishing countermeasures, reflecting his commitment to addressing real-world cybersecurity challenges. He has served as Principal Investigator on multiple externally funded grants totaling several million dollars, supporting initiatives such as cyber range development, student pathways, summer camps, and workforce training programs.
Dr. McCormick is the co-founder of the Central Texas Cyber Hub, a collaborative consortium uniting academia, industry, and government to address the cybersecurity workforce gap. Through this initiative, he has helped expand training opportunities, develop regional partnerships, and create pathways that connect students to high-demand careers. He is also an invited keynote speaker, having presented on topics such as cybersecurity best practices and threat prevention at professional conferences, including the Association for Computer Educators in Texas (ACET).
